Chiropractic care fills an important role in the healthcare workforce and is a natural choice for patients seeking to avoid drugs or surgery. Using the inherent ability of the body to heal itself, chiropractic doctors focus on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. The SIU pre-chiropractic curriculum, very similar to the pre-medical curriculum, offers you a strong foundation on which to build your future career in chiropractic medicine.

Pre-chiropractic medicine is not a major at SIU.  As a pre-chiropractic student, you are indicating your intention to apply to chiropractic schools. Students will need to select a major in which to earn a degree at SIU.

Chiropractic education is one of the few graduate degree programs that will accept students prior to completion of a bachelor degree. Requirements usually demand completion of 90 hours of undergraduate work including all pre-requisite coursework (often called a 3+3 program). Some of these programs will award you a bachelor's as well as your doctorate degree upon completion.
