Eligibility
To qualify for an interview, a new applicant must meet the following requirements:
- The student must maintain an overall GPA of 3.25.
- The last 50 hours toward the bachelors degree must be taken at SIU.
- The student must submit scores for a full-length practice entrance exam at the time of application and a second just prior to their interview.
- The applicant must not have graduated more than three years prior to expected professional school matriculation.
- The applicant must not have been awarded a subsequent degree (undergraduate or graduate) from another university or college.
- The applicant must secure three letters of recommendation and two academic evaluations. Evaluations must be from Science faculty and are usually accompanied by a letter of recommendation. A third letter of recommendation is required and may be from any faculty member, a practitioner, employer, etc. Science faculty teaching pre-requisite courses is preferred.
- The applicant must grant permission to the Health Professions Advisor (HPA) to view their entrance exam scores and application status through the relevant testing/application services.
- The applicant must meet all paperwork deadlines:
- November 1, 2022: HPAC intent to Apply Form deadline.
- December 21, 2022: Application deadline.
- February 15, 2023: Deadline for submission of supporting letters of recommendation. (Students are highly encouraged to request letters of recommendation immediately after the course with the recommender ends or three months in advance, whichever is earliest. These letters may be submitted to the Health Professions Office where they will be kept on file until application is made.)
- March 1, 2023: Deadline for participation in a pre-application interview and submission of pre-application materials to the Health Professions Advisor.
